A Bedtime Drink for Better Eyesight? What You Should Know

  • by

Many homemade wellness recipes claim that drinking a green vegetable juice before bed can make blurry vision clearer and improve visual sharpness by the following morning. Although vegetables can be an excellent source of nutrients that support overall health, there is no reliable evidence that a bedtime juice can correct blurry vision overnight.

A simple green drink can still be a nutritious addition to a balanced diet. Fresh celery, cucumber, spinach, parsley, or other vegetables can provide water, vitamins, minerals, and plant compounds. You can prepare a simple vegetable drink by washing the ingredients thoroughly, blending them with clean water, and drinking it fresh.

For example, combine a few celery stalks with cucumber, a small handful of spinach, and water. Blend until smooth and strain if desired. You can add a little lemon for flavor. This can be enjoyed as a refreshing beverage, but it should be viewed as a food rather than a treatment for an eye condition.

Blurry vision can have many different causes, including an incorrect glasses prescription, dry eyes, eye strain, diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma, retinal problems, or other eye conditions. Because the causes are so different, treating blurred vision with a homemade drink without knowing the cause can delay appropriate care.

Good nutrition does matter for long-term eye health. A varied diet containing leafy green vegetables, colorful fruits, fish, nuts, whole grains, and other nutrient-rich foods can contribute to overall health and provide nutrients important for normal eye function.

However, do not put vegetable juice or any homemade mixture directly into your eyes. Homemade preparations are not sterile and can cause irritation or infection.

If blurred vision is persistent, worsening, or accompanied by eye pain, flashes of light, many new floaters, a curtain-like shadow, severe redness, or sudden loss of vision, prompt medical evaluation is important.

A healthy bedtime drink can be part of a nutritious routine, but there is no proven recipe that can make eyesight significantly sharper overnight. The safest approach is to identify the reason for the blurry vision and treat that underlying problem appropriately.
