Feeling tired in the morning can make it difficult to stay active and focused throughout the day. Although no drink can realistically multiply your energy “100 times” in three hours, a simple coffee-and-garlic combination can be an interesting way to add garlic to your diet while enjoying your usual morning coffee.
Garlic contains compounds such as allicin that have been studied for their potential cardiovascular benefits, while coffee naturally contains caffeine, which can temporarily increase alertness and reduce feelings of fatigue.
Ingredients
- 1 cup freshly brewed coffee
- ½ small garlic clove, very finely minced
- ½ teaspoon honey, optional
- A pinch of cinnamon, optional
How to Prepare It
1. Brew the coffee
Prepare one cup of your usual coffee. Let it cool for a minute or two so it is hot but not boiling.
2. Prepare the garlic
Peel a small garlic clove and mince it very finely. If you are not accustomed to raw garlic, start with a smaller amount because its flavor can be quite strong.
3. Combine the ingredients
Add the minced garlic to the coffee and stir well. If desired, add a small amount of cinnamon or honey to make the flavor more pleasant.
4. Drink it with breakfast
Rather than relying on this drink as an energy treatment, enjoy it alongside a balanced breakfast containing protein, whole grains, fruit, or vegetables.
